Little Shop of Horrors is a story about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. He learns pretty quickly that easy success, money, fame, and love always comes with a price. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman. The music, composed by Alan Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour".
This insanely talented cast is complete with actors and actresses from all over the Capital Region.
Justin Newkirk of Mayfield, recently seen as Willard in the Colonial Little Theatre’s recent production of Footloose will be playing the role of Seymour the hapless florist worker.
Molly Rose McGrath McGrath of Saratoga, who was recently seen as Lady in the Lake in Park Playhouse’s production of Spamalot will be playing the role of Audrey the love interest.
Nichole Burkus of Gloversville will be playing the role of Mrs. Mushnik the owner of the sinking flower shop on Skid Row.
Tim Orcutt of Scotia, will be the playing the role of Orin, the abusive dentist boyfriend with an addiction to causing pain and Nitrous Oxide.
Tom Hart of Johnstown, will be playing the role of Audrey II the man eating plant made by Packay Productions of Hackensack, New Jersey.
Finishing off the cast would be the show’s “greek chorus”
Alyssa Reed of Gloversville will be playing the role of Ronette,
Sarah Lynn Barkley of Gloversville will be playing the role of Crystal
and Kelsey Rose Norton also of Gloversville will be playing the role of Chiffon.
The well rounded cast is bursting with BIG talent and is itching to bring the Glove Performing Arts Center a show that will blow the roof off the joint! Come join us this fall for a toe tapping good time! “Everybody better beware!”
