Positively Poulenc Chamber Music

Gloversville Community Music presents "Positively Poulenc", a chamber music concert. Presented by Music Among Friends, an informal professional chamber ensemble.

Repertoire to include: Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, Trio for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano, Elegie for horn and piano and the Sextet for winds and piano.

Featuring:
Kelly Breczka, oboe
James Haertel, flute
Alexander Kollias, clarinet
Allison Nicotera, bassoon
Joshua Thompson, horn
& Elisabeth Tomczyk, piano

The concert will be at Skyheart Studios on Sunday, September 29th, in Arietta Hall at 3:00pm

An afternoon of modern chamber music written by French composer, Francis Poulenc (1899-1963), a contemporary of Ravel and Debussy. Duet, trio and sextet selections will be performed by accomplished professional musicians who are colleagues and friends. Experience the essence of what chamber music really is: music written for friends, played by friends in a “great hall”.

Sunday’s concert is preceeded by Master Classes offered on Saturday by the ensemble members for interested woodwind and horn students and musician’s. Students of Gloversville Community Music will have priority in the class but all musicians are welcome. For details please contact Joshua Thompson at GloversvilleCM@gmail.com.

Adventures, Heroes, and Legends Concert

Gloversville Community Music presents, "Adventures, Heroes, and Legends", a band concert. The concert will feature many talented professional musicians from the area, as well as college and high school student musicians. The concert program will feature the finale from Stravinsky's "Firebird", Symphonic Suite from "Pirates of the Caribbean", Peer Gynt Suite by Grieg, Flourish by Vaughan Williams, The Seal Lulaby by Eric Whitacre and "Electric Playground" a medley of music for the original Nintendo gaming system, including music from Super Mario Bros., Kirby's Adventure, Mega Man, Final Fantasy, and Legend of Zelda.

The concert will also feature guest artist, clarinetist Alexander Kollias. He will be performing Messager's "Solo de Concours" with the ensemble. He will be giving a  master class at 2pm on the third floor of the Glove Performing Arts Center. Open to the public.

The concert is Saturday April 13th at 7pm at the Glove Performing Arts Center 42 North Main Street, Gloversville 12078
 

Admission for this event is $5.

GCM to Present "Not Your Average Cabaret @ GPAC

Gloversville Community Music will present "Not Your Average Cabaret" at 4:00pm on February 23rd. The concert will feature horn quartet Velocity Horns as well as singer/songwriter James Frederick. The concert will also feature phenomenal musicians, such as vocalists Naquana Mitchell, Jennifer Stella and Tess Toerreggiani, violinist Kelly Diehl, clarinetist Alexandra Kouloriotis, and pianists Benjamin April and Lisa Vosburgh.
