Neighborhood Watch Meeting
The next meeting of the Gloversville Neighborhood Watch will be on Monday, May 12, 2014 in the employee lounge at City Hall at 6:00pm. The meeting is open to the public. People are encouraged to attend to discuss concerns in their neighborhoods. Representatives from the Gloversville Police Department will be present.
A neighborhood watch, also called a crime watch, is an organized group of citizens devoted to crime and vandalism prevention within their neighborhoods. In other words, neighborhood watch is a crime prevention scheme under which members of a given community agree together to keep an eye on one another's properties and report suspicious activity to the police.
The aim of neighborhood watch also includes educating residents of a community on security and safety, and achieving safe and secure neighborhoods be familiarizing residents with their neighbors. However, when a criminal activity is suspected, members are encouraged to report to authorities and to not intervene.
