FPG Moving Forward

Today hopefully marks, as many of us would hope, the last snow storm thrust upon us by father winter for this year. For as beautiful as Upstate New York is in the winter months I think it can be agreed that we would all settle for some warmer weather. Along with this change in the seasons we too have a few changes of our own here at Front Page Gloversville.

Our web site was created as a collaborative idea that we could shine a light on the many great businesses and events that Gloversville has to offer. We have and will continue to offer promotion in an effort to support this City.

In an effort to grow and offer a more extensive network of resources to the community we have included some external links in the left hand column. We have also recognized, as many others have before us, the great history that this city has to offer not only to the region but to the nation. Gloversville was once coined the "Glove Capital of the World" and we think that this could use some new found exposure.

We would like to honor that achievement and present it to future generations. At this time we are looking to create a pictorial history with corresponding descriptive text of Gloversville. Anyone willing to contribute is encouraged to contact us at FPGloversville@Gmail.com.

Introducing the New Events Calendar!

Some may have already noticed that we recently launched a new and updated version of FrontPageGloversville.com!  I’d like to introduce one of the resources we’ve rolled out along with the new look: the new Events Calendar page. This new online calendar powered by Google will hopefully provide a unified place for city residents to learn about public events and activities going on in Gloversville.

You’ll probably notice that at this point the calendar is a little sparse, so we’re hoping you might lend us a hand. Many folks might not realize it, but in any given week there are many great things going on in our city. In fact, there seems to be so much going on that we can’t keep up with it on our own. So, if you are aware of any sort of public event, activity, meeting, show, benefit, etc. please send us a message either via Facebook or the ‘event suggestion form’ on the new Events Calendar page. We’ll post pretty much any event as long as it is open to the public and takes place in Gloversville.

On the calendar itself, you can click on individual days for an enlarged description of the events taking place that day. Where we can, we have included links to more information such as Facebook event pages, and other websites.  As always, we’d love to hear your suggestions, questions, comments and concerns regarding this site and how we might improve it.
